International Adaptation Assistance

As a result of global climate change, many developing nations are facing the current or future threat of severe humanitarian crises. Although these nations are the most vulnerable to climate change, they are the least responsible for its origins. It is the developed nations that bear the greatest responsibility for greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.

Several global treaties and many aid organizations have called for international assistance to help developing nations adapt to the effects of climate change.  Adaptation assistance projects would include food security, disaster risk management, sustainable agricultural practices for small scale farming, health care, water access and protection of local eco-systems and biodiversity, in addition to technology transfers and capacity building.
