What You Can Do

Ask Congress to:

  • Co-sponsor and pass S.891 Congo Conflict Minerals Act and H.R.4128 Conflict Minerals Trade Act. This bill requires U.S based companies to track and disclose the country of origin of minerals used in their products.  Click here to send a letter!
  • Increase US financial assistance to address the urgent needs of families forced to flee their homes by rebel attacks.
  • Commit the US to work with local governments and organizations to develop a regional Great Lakes strategy to promote and ensure peace.
     

Ask President Obama and Secretary Clinton to:

  • Promote speedy passage of S.891 Conflict Minerals Act and H.R.4128 Conflict Minerals Trade Act.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for how the United States will work with international partners and local organizations to ensure an end to the violence.
  • Increase US financial assistance to address the urgent needs of families forced to flee their homes by rebel attacks.
  • Commit the US to make long-term recovery for communities affected by the violence a priority in the region.
