Seminars

The MCC Washington Office is happy to host school, church, and other groups when they visit Washington, D.C. For high school groups, staff typically reserve space at a local church and talk with the students for about one hour. Topics include a general overview of the work of the Washington Office, specific examples of effective advocacy, and break-out sessions on topics which are of interest to young people and which illustrate some of the challenges in trying to be both prophetic and pragmatic in the Washington environment. For other groups, Washington Office staff can assist in setting up visits in Congressional offices and/or provide brief seminars, depending on the group’s interest. Seminar topics include an overview of Christian advocacy, an overview of Washington Office work, and any of the domestic and international issues covered by staff. For more information or to schedule your group’s visit, call (202) 544-6564 or email mccwash@mcc.org. In past years, the Washington Office held an annual Spring Seminar in Washington, D.C. In 2009, the seminar went on the road to Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church in Wichita, Kansas, with the theme “Hunger for Justice: The Global Food Crisis.” |
