Internships

Internships at the MCC Washington Office allow students and recent graduates to learn about the legislative issues that form the basis for MCC's work in Washington and to participate in all aspects of office life and work.

About internships

We offer three internship terms each year. The dates for each are flexible and depend on the selected intern’s availability. Longer internships of 2-3 terms will also be considered, based on the intern’s interest and the office’s needs. Both full-time and part-time internships are available.

  • Summer Term (June-August); applications will be reviewed starting April 1.
  • Fall Term (Sept-Dec); applications will be reviewed starting July 15.
  • Winter/Spring Term (Jan-April); applications will be reviewed starting November 1.

Internships will focus on U.S. policy related to either domestic or international issues.

To apply

To apply for an internship, please send an email to mccwash@mcc.org with the following information:

  • A cover letter that includes:
    • several paragraphs outlining your goals for the internship (and, if applicable, any connection with MCC or an Anabaptist congregation or school)
    • dates and how many hours/week you are available during that time;
    • whether your interest is in the domestic or international internship.
  • A copy of your resumé, along with names and contact information for two references.
  • Writing sample.

Please note that the MCC Washington Office is only able to provide a modest contribution for internships, generally enough to cover the cost of local transportation.

Possible summer 2010 projects include: creating a database of church contacts, expanding the Washington Memo subscriber base, and some policy work on the environment, immigration, Haiti, Colombia and/or Afghanistan. This list is subject to change.
